Administrative/Biographical History
Richmond High School was originally known as Richmond City School. It was started in First Baptist Church and was the African American school in Richmond, KY. Eventually in 1900 a ten room brick building with a school bell tower was created, and the name was changed to Richmond High School. Richmond High School continued to grow and expand both in the numbers of students and the physical campus until desegregation closed the school in the 1950s. The school had its last graduating class in 1956. Author: Jenna Roberts
