Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection records the business of the African American Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at Kirksville and documents the church services, membership and leadership.
The records include a copy of the first minute book; however, the church retained ownership of that volume at the time of the donation.
Biographical Note
The Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Kirksville was erected in 1873 under the direction of Reverend Madison Campbell. The building has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and services are still held there.
