First class, 4 year certificate for Washington County. Document noted Dedman's grades in each subject. The certificate is updated on the back to teach in other counties. (Dorris Museum #N.102)

Folder 5: Sanford Fillmore Bennett, 1896

Manuscript copy of the the words of "The Sweet Bye and Bye" along with a news article about Bennett and an envelope. (Dorris Museum #N.113.1)

Folder 6: Richmond Telephone Company, 1890s

Two lists of names and telephone numbers, early one sheet versions of a telephone directory. Also a news clipping about a telephone exhibit. (Dorris Museum #N.17.1 & 2)

A deposition taken in regard to a land case by John Kinkead. (no Dorris Museum # noted)

Folder 8: Letter from French Tipton to Fannie Lee Oglesby, 1897

He had been writing to her asking questions of her grandmother about her grandfather. The letter mentions Kit Carson and talks about sharing information for the Madison County history he is writing. (Dorris Museum #N.99)

Three prints, two are possibly circus women, one has a tambourine and the other, by Gene Pressler, is wearing a very sheer, highly decorated dress. (Dorris Museum #74.13.3 & 4) The other is a ship under full sail titled "A Fair Wind and Following Sea" by Tyler. (no Dorris Museum # noted)

Folder 17: Perry's Expedition to Japan Woodcuts, 1856

9 woodcuts from the 1st volume of "Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan." Plates are titled "Bay of Wodowara," "Delivering of the American Presents at Yohuhama," Japanese Soldiers at Yokuhama," "Dinner given to the Japanese Commissioners on Board USSF Powhatan," "Delivery of the President's Letter," "Bridge of Cut Stone and Entrance to a Temple, Simoda," "Simoda from the American Graveyard," "Entrance to a Temple at Hakotadi," and "Public Bath at Simoda." Folder 22: Chenault Family Papers, 1859-1866, 1897

Documents relating to the estate of Josiah P. Chenault of Lincoln Co., KY. Also a letter from C.O. Chenault to William Chenault answering questions about their family which was from Lynchburg, VA. (Dorris Museum #N.40-1a-f, N.40.2)

Folder 23: M.G. McQuary Diary, 1851-1858

Pocket Diary of a young man from Pulaski County, KY with brief notations on daily activities. Includes notes on the weather, farm work completed, days that he attends the family's store, events attended and more. Based on census records he is likely Milton Green McQuary. Includes a bound photocopy. (Dorris Museum #N.30)

Folder 24: Note to the Paymaster of the 7th Regiment, 1836

Paymaster is to pay Thomas C. Howard for four days service. (Dorris Museum #N.68.1)

Folder 25: Henry B. Hays Scrapbook, 1859-1880

Most of the clippings in this volume are related to Henry Blake Hays, coal merchant in Pittsburg, PA. It includes many news clippings about the Civil War, obituaries for a number of men, and articles about labor problems in the coal mines in the late 1870s. There is also a manuscript poem by Bob Sprout titled "The Riot" which is about the coal mine strike and Daniel Risher. Three photographs taken by L.B.H. form a panorama of the Hays & Bro. Coal Mine with coal tipples on the Monongahela River and a railroad bridge in the background. Includes a bound photocopy. (Dorris Museum #585)
