Scope and Contents of the Materials
This is a contemporary copy of the first plat of Richmond, KY done in 1798. It shows town lots from modern day Lancaster Avenue to Collins Street and Water Street to Irvine Street. Note that modern names are different than what appears on the plat. Included is a copy of the court order establishing Richmond as the county seat. This document includes a survey with boundary descriptions. The piece has been professionally framed with conservation glass, so it can be seen in the Special Collections and Archives Reading Room.
