Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of the genealogy research files compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery over decades of conducting family research for people around the country. They conducted research in Madison and Garrard Counties, Kentucky. The content of the files includes original correspondence between the Vockerys and researchers and copies of documents that prove various family connections. In rare cases there are original letters and documents that were sent to the Vockerys. This collection would be very helpful for family history researchers in Madison and Garrard Counties.

Collection Historical Note

Kathy Vockery, a retired school counselor, and her husband Bill have written numerous genealogy books on Madison, Garrard and Jessamine Counties in Kentucky. They have found hidden cemeteries, and have transcribed court records, marriage records and vital records. In addition, for many years they have assisted genealogy researchers in finding their Madison and Garrard County roots.

Folder 3: Thomas: Contains correspondence between Kathy Vockery and Edith Eastman, Evelyn Thomas, and Louise Terrill. Also contains family group sheets, a census sheet for the 1810 census on Henry Thomas, an ancestor chart beginning with Albert Lee Thomas, a copy of the last will and testament of James Deal (1 September 1838), and a document titled The Descendants of James Thomas.
Folder 4: Thompson: Contains correspondence between Kathy Vockery and Evelyn Reed, Harold Rarden, Verna Villines, and Rosanne Brown. Also contains family group sheets, random ancestry notes on the Thompson family from Judge Calico's papers (which includes a copy of the last will and testament of James Thompson, dated 10 June 1884; a copy of the last will and testament of Thornton K.
