Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection documents the history of the Kirksville Christian Church in Madison County, Kentucky. It includes membership rolls from the beginning of the church, church bulletins, church financial reports and Ladies Aid Society meeting minutes and financial records. A history of the church and materials from the church centennial celebration are also included.

Collection Historical Note

Kirksville Christian Church was organized in 1849, with the present frame building constructed in 1878. The church building was built on one acre of land donated by David & Sallie Willis who lived at adjoining property called Harmony Hall. Early church members included the following families: Arbuckle, Bogie, Cornelison, Covington, Long, Moran, Walker, and Whitlock.
