Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection documents the activities of the Eastern Kentucky University Gospel Ensemble between the years 1994 and 1998. There are some scattered materials from earlier dates including a dress from the 1970s.
Biographical Note
The EKU Gospel Ensemble (University Ensemble) was formed in 1965 by Eric Abercrumbie, Reggie Walters and Mary Mitchell in response to a request for a student ensemble to play at First Baptist Church (Frances and Collins). The group became a recognized student organization in 1970 with William H. Berge as the faculty advisor.
