Announcing the death of Alexander Fife, son of William, shortly after his arrival in America.

To Mr. Alexr. Fife Care of James Vaughn Postmaster Centerville Burbor [sic] Co., Kentucky

Forward Mr. Alexander Fife Richmond Madison

Philadelphia June 5th 1841

Dear Sir

I Take the Liberty of writing, to let you know respecting your nephfew [sic] Alexr. Fife and I am Sorry to inform you that he is no more, he departed this life [page torn] being only 11 days after he arived [sic] - Wm & Margaret Kinard being coming to this contry [sic] he prepared and come along with them, intending to go back to you, when he landed he came to my house and told us he was going to the west that his uncle had wrote for him and would be expecting him, he was then in a weak state of Health we advised him to Stop a few days untill [sic] he would get Stronger, but he Still got wo'rs [sic], we then got a docter [sic] who Said that he was consumtive [sic], and that the See [sic] voige [sic] had heasned [sic] on the compleant [sic], we then called in an other, and he also said it was the consumtion [sic] and would soon take him off, during his illness old Mrs. Fife and my wife paid every attention to him that was in thire [sic] power. I done all that I could to have him intaired [sic] in a respectfull [sic] manner and he lies along with 5 of my own children, we have all his clothing and will take care of them untill [sic] an opertunity [sic] offers to Send them home. As soon as this comes to hand I hope you will be So Kind as to Send me an answer - and direct To the care of Mrs. Jane Patterson, grocer Market St near Schuylkill St., Phila. - no more at presant [sic] but remains your affectionate friends - Archibald & Latitia Moor.
