Scope and Contents of the Materials

This scrapbook album was created by Grace Robinson Shearin, a 1924 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. The album contains items, between the years 1920 and 1924, including: memorabilia, newspaper clippings and photos of campus, students, and local places they visited. It is important to note that Grace annotated many items, such as letters and event programs, within the album, and these annotations really give the researcher insight into campus culture and personalities at the time. Several photographs also include brief captions.

Biographical Note

Grace Robinson Shearin was a native of Boyle County, KY and graduated from Danville High School. She attended Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and Teachers College in the early 1920s, graduating in 1924. Miss Robinson returned to Danville where she taught at the Broadway Elementary School and at the Mary G. Hogsett Elementary School. She married Joe Shearin and they lived on a farm until his death, but she retained a life-long interest in farming and her past students.
