This collection consists of records relating to the Valley View Ferry Authority from the time period when Dr. James Murphy served on the board. The board was focusing on repairs to the boat and cables during this time and the records illustrate this. The Authority should be consulted for complete records.
Collection Historical Note
The Valley View Ferry was established in 1780 to provide a route across the river for travelers between Richmond and Nicholasville, KY. The ferry was privately owned until it was purchased by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, Madison and Jessamine Counties. At this time the Valley View Ferry Authority was established to manage the ferry.
