Scope and Contents: John R. Pates was a conductor on the Richmond, Nicholasville, Irvine, and Beattyville Railroad (Riney-B) which was later purchased by the Louisville & Atlantic Railroad. These papers include a scrapbook, train time tables, correspondence and report cards for his son who attended Model School. The scrapbook is composed of many news clippings about the Riney-B railroad during the time he worked as conductor and superintendent.
