The Plantation Papers were intended as satire and Colonel Culpepper was intended to be a satirical representation of John Rowlett, Vice-President for Academic Affairs under Robert Martin. They were written by Robert Miller who was chair of the Philosophy Department and later the parliamentarian of Faculty Senate.
