Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of genealogical research notes and documents compiled by Anna Turley Noland. The families she personally researched are Noland, Turley, Black, McWilliams, Gass, Boggs and other affiliated families. In addition Mrs. Noland conducted research for other individuals and some of this correspondence is also included. As part of her genealogy work Mrs. Noland also transcribed various local resources such as the first Madison County Court Order Book, the first volume of the Old Cane Springs Church minutes and the Mt. Zion Church Register.

Biographical Note

Anna Turley Noland was the daughter of Robert Boggs Turley and Jane Black. She married Jeremiah Broaddus Noland in 1895 and they had one son, Turley Noland. Mrs. Noland was a genealogist and besides researching her own family, she was also a professional researcher.
