Collection Overview
Scope and Contents of the Materials
All of the postcards in this collection appear to be lithographed cards. They contain family news and are typical, brief comments about such day to day activities and events as making plum preserves, cutting corn, cutting tobacco, river too high to cross on the ferry, "why don't you write," and how everyone is doing.
Collection Historical Note
The donor is unknown and the date of acquisition is unknown. They were removed from the Postcard Collection as they contained correspondence and appeared to have more value historically as a cohesive unit documenting one family. All but two of the cards are addressed to Mrs. Ola Morris, Beechwood, KY (Owen County). One is addressed to Mrs. Ida Wiley in Georgetown, KY (Scott County), and another to Miss Ola Wiley in Tacketts Mill (Owen County), KY. Ola Wiley Morris (1899-1972) was the daughter of Martin L. and Ida J. Wiley and married Arthur Morris. [Owen County 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records.]
