Name: Parkes, James B. (1846-1923)
Historical Note: Born in 1846, James B. Parkes was a prominent citizen of Richmond, Kentucky. Parkes owned a large farm in Kingston, Kentucky which he sold a few years before his death. After selling his property, Parkes moved in with his sister, Mary Parkes Watts, and niece, Emma Parkes Watts. In his obituary, Parkes was described as: "A man of genial disposition, strict integrity and splendid business acumen, he was widely esteemed." Parkes never married. He died in Richmond, Kentucky on October 18, 1923.
