Historical Note:

Emma Y. Case was born in Anderson County, Kentucky in 1892. She married Robert P.M. Case and had two daughters Lucille and Jane. Emma taught at several schools in Kentucky and New Mexico before beginning to teach at Eastern in 1925. She graduated from Eastern in 1926 and received her Master's in Education from Peabody College for Teachers in 1930.

She became Dean of Women in 1932 and held that position for thirty years. During that time she founded four campus honor societies: Cwens, Collegiate Pentacle, Kappa Iota Epsilon and Omicron Alpha Kappa. She also founded the Mother's Day Program, the freshman women's Christmas dinner, the Senior Women's Dinner and the men's and women's honor's day programs.

Emma Case retired from Eastern in 1962 and she died in 1988.
