Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of manuscript materials that were collected by the Dorris Museum. Some of the collection has been processed either as individual collections or has been added to other artificial collections as appropriate. The items inventoried here are just a small percentage of a collection that had a worldwide scope. Dr. Dorris collected any materials that he found to be interesting without regard to subject. Other materials will be added to this inventory as identified and processed.

- Medical school notes of Gerald Dufour for a course taught by M. Bauther at the University of Montpellier. Written in French. Water damaged. Found in an abandoned house in Lee County, KY. (Accession No. N.173)
- Folder 2: Green Branch Frugal Intelligencer
- Valedictory speech on education for a school in Madison County, Kentucky. (Accession No. 1814)
- Folder 3: Tates Creek Church Typescripts, 1852, 1860
- Typescripts regarding building the church in 1852 and an 1860 membership list. (Accession No. 1768)
- Folder 4: Methodist Church Quarterly Conference Minute Book, 1811-1844
- Typescript of the Madison County Conference Minute Book. It lists names of churches and various church members. This body was also responsible for licensing pastors and those individual decisions are noted in the minutes. (Accession No. R.248)
- Folder 5: The War Pictorial, 1917
- Two issues of a World War I magazine published by the Illustrated London News & Sketch. (Accession No. 1715)
- Folder 6: Cecil Fogg Daily Pocket Remembrancer Typescript, 1864
- Fogg was a soldier in Company B, of the 36th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. This diary details where he was and what was happening during 1864. He spent his time that year in Chattanooga, TN, then went to Virginia. He ended the year in a hospital in Annapolis, MD.
- Folder 7: Peyton Family of Kentucky and Virginia
- Folder 8: Chinese Prints, 1928
- Sent to Dr. Dorris Christmas 1948 by Kuo-Chou Wu. He states that the prints are old Chinese art that was printed by the Commercial Press in Shanghai.
- Folder 9: Civil War Publications, 1960-1962
- Includes the program from the One Hundredth Anniversary Commemoration of the Battle of Perryville (Accession NO. 1312), and Civil War Engagements, Skirmishes, etc. in Kentucky, 1861-1865 (Kentucky Historical Society, Research Contribution No. 2).

- Folder 11: Baseball Board Game Instructions
- Folder 12: Mary Luxon School Records, 1879
- Folder 13: Diary of Edward P. Lander, 1863-1864
- Lander was the bugler in Company, 9th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War. This item is a typescript of his diary detailing his daily activities. He seems to be in Tennessee most of this time period. (Accession No. R.42)
- Folder 14: Blue Licks Battlefield Monument, 1928-1942
- Documents the 1928 celebration at Blue Licks and includes copies of speeches, prayers and planning. Includes some information about later events as well.

- Lists board of trustees and teachers' names and fees for the upcoming session.

- Instructions for displaying and respecting the American flag.
- Folder 17: Garden of Remembrance (Berlin, Germany)
- Photographs from the Garden which is in memory of Russians killed in Germany. (Accession No. R.141)

- Hand drawn sketch of the location of Taylor's grave on Taylor's Fork.
- Folder 19: Sessional Records of the Church of Silver Creek, 1818-1891
- Typescript of minutes with a brief history of the church.
- Folder 20: Members of Kentucky Adjutant General's Staff, 1912
- Photographs of William Thalheimer, Rudolph F. Vogt and Charles B. Norton, all members of the Kentucky Adjutant General's Staff under Governor James B. McCreary's second term as governor.
- Folder 21: List of Shorthorn Cattle, 1881-1894
- List of cattle names and dates of birth. Many of these cattle belonged to William Alexander Harris of Linwood Kansas and many carry Linwood in the name.

- Home of Henry Clay.
- Folder 23: Cripple Creek, Colorado, 1893-1945
- Includes a map of Cripple Creek (accession no. 44), a photograph which shows the intersection of Third and Bennet Avenue (accession no. 1644), two views of the town from above, and two images of miners.
