Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection documents the personal lives of Meredith J. Cox (of Smith's Grove, KY) and his wife Elizabeth Clay Highland (of Mt. Sterling, KY). It includes commencement programs for both of them, news clippings and correspondence between Elizabeth and her grandfather and mother and also from their son William Cox while he was serving in World War II. Photographs of Eastern's homecoming and an unidentified home are also included.

Collection Historical Note
Meredith J. Cox (of Smith's Grove, KY) and his wife Elizabeth Clay Highland (of Mt. Sterling, KY) married in 1920. Elizabeth was the daughter of William P. Highland and the grandaughter of J.T. Highland. They had one son, William J. Cox who served in World War II. Meredith J. Cox was a chemistry faculty member at Eastern.

Later letters mention World War II.
