The first Presbyterian church in Madison County, KY was organized in 1790 by Rev. James Crawford in the community of Kirksville and was called the Silver Creek Presbyterian Church. This church eventually came to be known as the Kirksville Presbyterian Church, and it continued until 1921 when church members voted to consolidate with the First Presbyterian Church in Richmond which had been founded In 1827.
