Title: Kentucky Congress of Parent Teacher's Association (KCPTA) Records, 1911-2002
Administrative/Biographical History
The “Kentucky State Branch of the National Congress of Mothers and Parent Teacher Associations” was organized on April 24, 1918. Its charter was granted on April 27. The aim of the group has historically been to advocate for children and youth - this means emphasizing the importance of the health, education, and safety of each child in the region. Additionally, the organization seeks to emphasize the involvement of parents and other groups and organizations that support the youth. In the 1960s, a “Headquarters Fund” was established as the group sought to create their own Kentucky PTA state office. The state office finally opened in the 1990s. Since then, the organization continues to work with local groups, state legislators, and parents to ensure the health, education, and well-being of Kentucky children.
