Name: Rowlett, John D. (1928-2004)

Historical Note: John D. Rowlett was Vice President Emeritus for Academic Affairs and Research, Dean of the Faculties, and a professor at Eastern Kentucky University. Dr. Rowlett was an alumnus of North Texas State College and University of Illinois. He began working at EKU in 1951 and stayed on for 42 years. Rowlett also served on many committees, such as the Commission on Colleges and President Carter's National Advisory Council on Vocational Education. Upon several instances he spoke to the U.S House of Representatives and Senate. The Rowlett Building which houses Allied Health and Nursing is named in his honor.
