The Hays Fork Baptist Church was founded in 1813 under the name, "Bethel Church of Old School Baptist" with Christopher Harris as the first pastor. In June of 1819 the church was reconstituted as the "Baptist Church of Christ, Hays Fork, Madison County, Kentucky." Josiah Collins was the first pastor of this reconstituted church. In 1860 there were 100 listed members in the church, fifty-two of which were black brethren. In 1895 "United" was dropped from the church name. The church was thus named, "The Baptist Church of Christ at Hays Fork, Madison County, Kentucky." The final change to the church name happened in 1994. The current name is, "Hays Fork Baptist Church."
The church has undergone many changes and renovations throughout the 206 years of the church's life. More can be read about Hays Fork Baptist Church and their history at the church's website, http://haysfork.com/.
