Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of the genealogy research files compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery over decades of conducting family research for people around the country. They conducted research in Madison and Garrard Counties, Kentucky. The content of the files includes original correspondence between the Vockerys and researchers and copies of documents that prove various family connections. In rare cases there are original letters and documents that were sent to the Vockerys. This collection would be very helpful for family history researchers in Madison and Garrard Counties.

Collection Historical Note

Kathy Vockery, a retired school counselor, and her husband Bill have written numerous genealogy books on Madison, Garrard and Jessamine Counties in Kentucky. They have found hidden cemeteries, and have transcribed court records, marriage records and vital records. In addition, for many years they have assisted genealogy researchers in finding their Madison and Garrard County roots.

Bard", "Annotated Bibliography of the Dryden Family in Virginia and Kentucky with Reference to the Family Connection of William G. Payne dated 3 August 1881, a copy of The Harrodsburg Herald dated 21 January 1966 with a headline and photograph labeled "At Dugansville Store", a copy of a deed of conveyance involving Wilson Duggins dated 26 July 1836, copies of correspondence between the Harrodsburg Historical Society and Glen E. Contains family group records dating to 1793, as well as correspondence between Vockery and Alena M. Jablonsky and Joanna Lile, respectively. Also contains copies of "Garrard Co. marriages and Wills" with highlighted portion of the marriage of James Duggins and Nancy/Emily Naylor dated 14 August 1842, a biographical shorts about Thomas Dunbar (b. November 1760), John Dunbar (b. 1669), William Dunbar (b. 1639) and many others, sketches of Carl Dunbar in the "Old Dunbar Burying Grounds", and a copy of a document entitled "Dunbar-Smith-Bright" which begins the three family histories as they matriculated in America.

Also contains a copy of the last will and testament of "Greal East" dated 14 March 1820, along with other notes on the family and family group records.

Contains previous correspondence between Judge Forrest Calico and Ralph Elliot, as well as correspondence between Vockery and David E. Shannon and Bonny Gillmer, respectively, with family group files. Also contains a deed of conveyance dated 6 November 1819 involving Alexander Elliot and wife Polly, John Elliot and wife Rachael, and others, as well as a deed of conveyance dated 27 April 1852 involving Francis Elliott widow of George Elliot and others, several property maps detailing property ownership lines dating to 31 August 1846. Also contains correspondence between Vockery and Evelyn Stiles, Stanley H. Embry, Jeanette V. Youngman (with attached family pedigree), and Joan Cox, along with various family group records.
