Collection Overview
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of the genealogy research files compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery over decades of conducting family research for people around the country. They conducted research in Madison and Garrard Counties, Kentucky. The content of the files includes original correspondence between the Vockerys and researchers and copies of documents that prove various family connections. In rare cases there are original letters and documents that were sent to the Vockerys. This collection would be very helpful for family history researchers in Madison and Garrard Counties.
Collection Historical Note
Kathy Vockery, a retired school counselor, and her husband Bill have written numerous genealogy books on Madison, Garrard and Jessamine Counties in Kentucky. They have found hidden cemeteries, and have transcribed court records, marriage records and vital records. In addition, for many years they have assisted genealogy researchers in finding their Madison and Garrard County roots.

- Contains a single document which is a biographical sketch of Templeton C. McMahan (b. 1830).

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Dixie Lester, Ruby G. Jarvis, Pamela D. Jarvis, Anna Breuer. Also contains copies of court records involving Thomas McQueen dated 17 April 1895, a copy of a consent to marry given by Joshua McQueen dated 22 March 1802.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Thelma L. Lunsford, Jim Blackwell, Jack W. McQuerry, Frank E. McQueary, Harold L. Hendley. Also contains family pedigrees, a copy of a deed of conveyance involving Thomas McQueery and his family dated 23 April 1904, a copy of a marriage certificate involving James McQueery dated 16 September 1896, a copy of a marriage certificate involving G. H. - Contains correspondence between Vockery and Janice (Magee) Walz (regarding the Magee family in Kentucky during the 19th century), L.D. Magee (regarding David Magee who was in Madison County in 1792), and Kitty J. Magee (regarding Ralph Magee of Madison County in the early to mid 19th century).

Also contains notes regarding the Mason's buried in Cochran Cemetery, a copy of the last will and testament of John Mason dated 14 June 1860, a copy of the last will and testament of William Mason dated 3 December 1793, a copy of a deed of conveyance involving Samuel Snoddy dated 23 September 1817, a copy of a document entitled "Genealogies of Kentucky Families" specifically the pages pertaining to the Snoddy family.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Margaret B. Kelly. Also contains family group records, a deed of conveyance involving William Maxey dated 29 March 1813, a biographical sketch of Nathan Maxey.
