Collection Overview
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of the genealogy research files compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery over decades of conducting family research for people around the country. They conducted research in Madison and Garrard Counties, Kentucky. The content of the files includes original correspondence between the Vockerys and researchers and copies of documents that prove various family connections. In rare cases there are original letters and documents that were sent to the Vockerys. This collection would be very helpful for family history researchers in Madison and Garrard Counties.
Collection Historical Note
Kathy Vockery, a retired school counselor, and her husband Bill have written numerous genealogy books on Madison, Garrard and Jessamine Counties in Kentucky. They have found hidden cemeteries, and have transcribed court records, marriage records and vital records. In addition, for many years they have assisted genealogy researchers in finding their Madison and Garrard County roots.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Jean Brandt regarding Lydia Messick who lived in Madison County in the early 1800s. Also contains family group records.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Wilhain H. Johnson, Jim W. Soper, Laurie Middleton, Paul Rex Trihey, Mary K. Barnard. Also contains a copy of a document entitled "The Name and Family of Middleton" compiled by the media research bureau, a copy of court documents involving Henry H. Middleton dated 15 April 1839.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Elizabeth Carmark, Nancy Orr Anderson, C.E. Miller, Clare F. Magbee, Marilyn Merritt, Thelma L. Lunsford. Also contains a bound family pedigree, a biographical sketch of William Miller (1747-1841), a copy of a document entitled "An Early Fort and Those who Lived Within" as well as the original typescript, a copy of a document entitled "The Greatest Band of Outlaws America has Ever Known Arrives in Minnesota to Look into Banking Conditions" with a highlighted portion regarding Clell Miller, a copy of a biographical sketch regarding Jacob Miller (b. 1791), a copy of a letter by Priscilla M. Harris dated 14 July 1842 regarding her trip west immediately before the California Gold Rush and her engagement with the French Man "Rubeadue" on the trail, family pedigrees, a copy of court records involving William Miller dated 22 January 1894.

Also contains a copy of a deed of conveyance involving John Morrell dated 20 January 1817, a copy of the estate sale record of William Miller dated 16 February 1893, family pedigrees, a biographical sketch of Jacob Miller (b. 1791), a copy of a note granting permission to marry signed by William Miller dated 21 October 1856, a copy of a deed of conveyance involving Daniel Miller dated 16 January 1865, and a copy of a deed of conveyance involving William Miller dated 26 September 1877.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Virginia Everding. Also contains family group records, a copy of a document entitled "The Mills Family Record," and a copy of an article entitled "Ancestry of My Mills Family" by Harry W. Mills.
- Folder 10: Mitchell
- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Jennifer Mitchell Alexander, Virginia A. Tschanz, Betty J. Ooley (Mrs. Paul R. Ooley). Also contains family group records, a copy of a deed of conveyance involving John Mitchell dated 1883, copies of affidavits pertaining to Mitchell's in Garrard County, a copy of a transcript from a trial involving J.H. Mitchell dated 19 June 1936.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Donna M. Nichols, Mary Catherine Moody, James O. King, Amalie Preston, Jean Duvall. Also contains a copy of a chapter entitled "Moberly" which appears to tell the story of the movement of that family into Kentucky, a lengthy family pedigree, a list of deeds involving Moberly's in the Madison County Court Records, and a document entitled "The Moberly Family of Madison County, KY."

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Don Houk, Dona Wilson, Rick S. Thomas, Roseanne H. Montgomery, Joe Montgomery.
