Collection Overview
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of the genealogy research files compiled by Bill and Kathy Vockery over decades of conducting family research for people around the country. They conducted research in Madison and Garrard Counties, Kentucky. The content of the files includes original correspondence between the Vockerys and researchers and copies of documents that prove various family connections. In rare cases there are original letters and documents that were sent to the Vockerys. This collection would be very helpful for family history researchers in Madison and Garrard Counties.
Collection Historical Note
Kathy Vockery, a retired school counselor, and her husband Bill have written numerous genealogy books on Madison, Garrard and Jessamine Counties in Kentucky. They have found hidden cemeteries, and have transcribed court records, marriage records and vital records. In addition, for many years they have assisted genealogy researchers in finding their Madison and Garrard County roots.

Wherritt, Jno. P. Smith, Harry Van Houten, W. Moore, Jno Adams, Jno. Brisbin, T. Milton, A. Farmin, Capt. G. H. Dobyns, C. Hartwig, J.D. - Contains letters from Mrs. A.R. Fischer to Judge Calico. Also contains family group sheets, an excerpt from Woods' History of Albemarle County, Virginia, a photocopy of an excerpt from the History of Clay and Platte Counties, Missouri that talks about William R. Rothwell, D.D., and a booklet about the descendants of Claiborne Rothwell.

- Contains a pedigree chart and family group records.
- Folder 6: Royston
- Contains family group sheets, photocopies of family records, info sheets, a list of those buried in Broaddus and Coy Cemetery, a family group record sheet, a map of land owned by the Royston family, a list of the Schooler and Royston Bibles, and a photocopy of Thomas Royston's last will and testament.
- Folder 7: Rucker
- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Jean Bourne, Barbara Rucker, and Alice Rucker. Also contains family group sheets, a pedigree chart, a photocopy of a deed between Garland Kindred and Marlon Todd, photocopies of excerpts from a book titled "History of the Rucker Family" about Peter Rucker and John Rucker, an ancestor chart, a lineage chart, a photocopy of an application for the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, photocopies of newspaper articles, Rucker Society newsletters and meeting minutes, copies of photos of the Rucker Reunion, and family group records.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Nancy Criss. Also contains family group and info sheets, a descendants chart, a photocopy of a letter from A.A. Ruston, family group records, and a photocopy of the Runyon/Gully Deed.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Maurice G. Staton, Christine S. Agee, Evelyn D. Fuqua, and Ralph M. Stivers. Also contains a photocopy of a excerpt from a book titled, "The Life of Harriet Beecher Stowe", family group sheets and records, a descendants chart of Randolph Smallwood, and grave and footstone records and a map for Scudder Cemetery.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Marie Norris, Sam D. Lawson, Shirley A. Tallackson, and Doris M. Campbell. Also contains family group and info sheets, ancestry charts, a list of the Descendants of Asa Sadler, and photocopies of deeds.
- Folder 12: Salter
- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Cecil S. Salter and Betty Joe King. Also contains family group and info sheets, a photocopy of an agreement between Thomas Salter and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, a transcription of a notice of ejectment, and a photocopy of an article titled "Civil War Remembrances Involve Many Local and Area Historians" from the Kentucky Advocate Magazine.

- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Fran Moffeit. Also contains family group sheets and records and photocopies of the 1850 Census.
- Folder 14: Sanders
- Only contains a packet on the history of the Sanders family in Garrard County, Kentucky.
- Folder 15: Sandifer
- Contains an autobiography about Nicholas Sandifer and a copy of the newspaper article about the death of Henry Green Sandifer in 1912.
- Folder 16: Scarbrough
- Contains correspondence between Vockery and Jean Scarbrough. Also contains family group sheets, a history of the Scharbrough Family, an ancestry family group, photocopies of census records, a photocopy of the marriage bond for David Scarbrough and Joycey Brock, a photocopy of another marriage bond for Jacob Scarbrough and Rachel Pointer, a third photocopy of a marriage bond for John Scarbrough and Margaret Brock, a history of the Brock Family, photocopies of obituaries for Annie, James, William, and Rev.
